Week 1, Luke 1:1-4

This is an exciting day! I'm looking forward to being on this journey through the Gospel of Luke with you. I look forward to my own opportunity to reflect deeply on these writings, and I look forward to hearing fro you as well.

Today I could hardly contain myself to read only the first four verses of Luke 1. Once I settled in, I see that there is a lot that God has to say even in these few lines. The one thing that kept jumping out at me was the word (in the New International Version) "certainty" in verse 4. If you look in a few other versions (you can do this at this website: http://www.biblegateway.com/), you'll see that the New American Standard Verstion says, "exact truth," and the Message says "beyond a shadow of a doubt the reliability."

I really appreciate that the write of this gospel account took the time to investigate and to ask eyewitnesses to corroborate the accounts he had been hearing. Lucky Theophilus, to have a friend willing to do this for him. Lucky us, that we get to read it all now!

Good luck with your reading. Check in again tomorrow...and let's chat!

Peace,
Pastor Judi
